Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her songs. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and the first female to receive it. Apart from receiving nine Grammy nominations She was also the first Indian-born musician to be a presenter and performer in the live ceremony. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was born in London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance at New Delhi. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Her career as a recorder and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. She has been performing with her father on stage for several years. In 1998, she debuted Anourag as her debut single album. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Alongside performing at every major venue as well, she is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka Shakar's work is not restricted to just music. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she went to the high school. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at the age of nine. After four years she played her first music debut with the sitar Delhi during her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka gained numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals and recording with George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
